I didn't think we had storage of electricity down yet. If we did, why do most people need to buy a new cordless drill, cell phone, or car battery every 5 years? The chevy volt battery will cost around ,000 to replace. Shouldn't we invent a better way of storing electricity before we start inventing things that run on it? I know they are currently inventing new forms of batteries all the time. They still need lots of work and development though.

I happen to have 3 ryobi 18v batteries for my cordless drill that I can charge on the charger to full power but if I leave them more than a day sitting around, they are completely dead. What is wrong with them and can I fix them.

Im in the market for a 12 volt cordless screwdriver lithium ion. Im debating in between the Milwaukee M12 screwdriver and the Dewalt 12 volt max. My dad has the Milwaukee M12 which we bought 3 years ago.Other than having the batteries replaced once under warranty tool is working great. I went down to my local home depot and held the Dewalt 12 volt max and its very comfortable and feels like it was made for my hand. I have four Dewalt tools over the years. Ive always been told its a comemricial Black N Decker. Im a more heavier Milwaukee user though. But in order to get the Milwaukee M12 to stand up like the Dewalt, i have to get the XC battery pack for another . I thought Id ask tool users which one they prefer and why Milwaukee M12 screwdriver or Dewalt 12 volt max screwdriver?

For combo cordless power tool sets, there are many accessories the manufacturer promotes - the drill, circular saw, reciprocating saw, small vacuum, light, radio, etc.

If someone comes up with another tool that can be used, using the same batteries of a combo pack, can a patent be obtained for that idea?

Hypothetically speaking, lets say the radio for use in combination, with a specific brand power tool set has not been done before. Obviously, the radio is not new, nor is a battery powered radio. The idea of designing a radio to be powered by the same batteries used for the other accessories may be new and be allowed patent protection.

I have been doing some patent searching, but I'm having difficulty in narrowing the search down.
Any suggests on finding the patents on these manufacturers as it might relate to my situation?

Does it seem possible to get a patent like this, and how would I specify the claims?

How would I approach manufactures after filing?

Thanks.

I use my cordless drill very little and I was wondering if it is better to keep the batteries on the charger or charge them up and let them sit off the charger until they need to be charged again?
Thanks.

I expect to get a lot of input on this so I'd prefer details on Batteries, Balance, Readiness, & Versatility. I probably won't use it really often, but want it ready when I do.

My dad was going to throw out an old ryobi 12v cordless drill but he said if I can fix it I can have it. The drill and batteries work. The charger however wont light up when I plug it in. I took it apart everything looks ok to what I can see. When I put the battery in the charger in it it won't lock in and i have to push the thing in it to lock it and Im not sure if the led light just burnt out. Im not sure if anyone and tell me whats wrong it if you has a similar problem or something.

I making a cordless drill and I need to figure out what battery to use that will power a High Torque Mini 12V 600 rpm DC Gear Motor, and fit within in these dimensions 25mm diameter and 90mm in length. I also need the battery to be rechargeable and be fit to use for a battery amateur like me so no batteries that will explode in my face if I over charge them. Cheers!

I don't have an expensive, nice drill, i will admit. But every one i have ever owned , the batteries are always dead, they take forever to charge (by the time your drill is ready, it's a day later and your project is on hold). And the batteries die for good after only a couple years.

Should i just stick with corded drills, or are the expensive industrial strength cordless drills worth the investment?

I was looking at an 18V Cordless Drill for my husband, but I don't know what kind to buy. Some are only .00 and others are 0.00. What is the difference? It looks like most of them come with 2 batteries and a carring case. I'm really confused. Any suggestions???
