keyless chuck is broken on my 18v dc 759 model. i see i can buy online for 38 bucks or so but i tried taking it off with the screw inside the chuck w/o any luck. i see there s a retainer ring perhaps i can see between the drill body and the torque settings.
do i have to take that out also to separate or just pry the crap outa the old chuck to get it off. i sure hate breaking a 220 dollar drill if im doing this wrong.
thanx in advance.
I'd like to spend as little as I can get away with, obviously, but I'm willing to spend as much as I need to. I'm looking for something that I can use for everyday-around-the-house tasks like hanging curtain rods and blinds, paintings and basic repairs like if a cabinet door or something needs to be fixed but I also want something heavy-duty enough that I can do larger projects like building a deck or a picnic table.
I understand Makita is a great brand but I also see a lot of Dewault drills around too.
What kind of torque do I need? Should it be 3/8"? What about voltage? 18 volts?

This drill aught to overpower me... Please post. Didnt see a date on drill.. Where do i look?

I making a cordless drill and I need to figure out what battery to use that will power a High Torque Mini 12V 600 rpm DC Gear Motor, and fit within in these dimensions 25mm diameter and 90mm in length. I also need the battery to be rechargeable and be fit to use for a battery amateur like me so no batteries that will explode in my face if I over charge them. Cheers!

It's a cheap Black and Decker cordless drill, 18v. I would like to know what voltage tolerance it has(can I use a 15v power supply, how about a 24volt power supply?) and would like to know typically how many amps these cordless drills use under full load.
the Batteries are shot basically, and I can't find a corded drill with the cordless features(torque settings etc.) so I wish to utilize these drills I have laying around, I was looking in catalogs and seems to me a good power supply I can find is a 15v with 10 amps continuous or a 24 power supply.
I hooked the drill up to my ex-tech variable voltage 3amp 0-30v power supply, my current limiter would keep tripping and can only screw a deck screw in about half way....
What would be a good power supply for this application, and I can't seem to find the watts the tool draws, so I am not sure how big of a supply I need, or the voltage.

Do impact guns have a built in torque setting? So when it reaches a certain torque, say 80lbs it just cuts out?
When doing high torquing with a air impact gun, will it wrench your wrist/arm if you dont hold it proper? I have a dewalt 14.4 cordless screwdriver xrp where if you dont holt it properly, it will break your wrist.
What are some things to look for with a good quality impact gun?
What are some things to avoid when purchasing one?
Any recommendations for a good middle of the road air impact gun to handle automotive (axle nuts, crankshaft bolts, lug nuts, etc. etc.)

I am looking for a cordless hammer drill. Please recommend a brand and the battery size (volts). Its for home use but I often drill into masonry so I think I need to go with the hammer drill as opposed to a regular drill. Also, I want as much torque/power as required to make it an easy job, but I not want too much more than I need. I would also prefer a long lasting battery that recharges quickly
Please let me know what you think
Thanks

I would like to know is Porter cable cordless drill a good drill for the money? They claim it has 410in LBS of torque. That is more than a makita. Does anyone have good experiences with this drill?
I left a link to show which one I am talking about.

Alright I went to OSH today and bought a craftsman drill that was normally like 100bucks and got it at 50... So now I'm wondering whether or not I got a good tool... The only tools I've ever used were Ryobi and Black and Decker and they didnt have any of either of those at the store... So... Whatcha think? Is Craftsman a good tool?
I bought the 3/8'' Drill/Driver with Worklight 15.6v with 24 torque settings...
